In Fuentes Square, an assault occurred that went viral thanks to dissemination on social media. The influencer 'Fofo' Márquez was arrested on April 4 last year by federal and municipal authorities, with his transfer to the Tlalnepantla Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center. During a hearing on January 22, Márquez claimed he was incapable of committing feminicide and requested to be prosecuted for injuries. He was ultimately found guilty of attempted feminicide for hitting a woman identified as Edith 'N', and his sentence was issued this week.

'Fofo' Márquez has been in preventive detention since April 2024, following an arrest warrant for assaulting a woman in public. In the most recent hearing, he was sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison for attempted feminicide and ordered to pay a fine and compensation to the victim. The influencer rejected a plea deal and requested to be tried for injuries instead of attempted feminicide.

Edith, the woman assaulted by 'Fofo' Márquez, expressed feeling threatened by the influencer's family and fearing for her and her family's safety. Following the incident in February 2024, in which Márquez allegedly hit Edith in a parking lot, a legal process has followed that culminated in his conviction this week.

During the hearing, 'Fofo' Márquez received a sentence condemning him to more than 17 years in prison for the crime of feminicide in the degree of attempt. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a fine and financial compensation to the victim for the damages caused. The influencer publicly apologized for the assault, but Edith rejected his apology. The victim detailed that Márquez assaulted her in a parking lot in Naucalpan and that she even received insults during the incident.
